OUR BELIEFS

Our Core Beliefs

We belong to one God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son who is Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit make up the Trinity. (Matthew 5:16, 45; 6:1,4,8,9 / James 1:17 / John 1:1; 14:9-11 / Genesis 1:1,2 / John 4:24; 14:16-20)

God is our Father: He is the Creator of the universe and the lover of all people. (Matthew 5:16 / Genesis 1:1 / Acts 17:24-28 / Hebrews 11:3)

Jesus is our Lord and Savior: He is the unique Son of God, who was born of a virgin, shed His blood for the sins of the world, was resurrected from the dead, reigns now with God in heaven, and will return. (Matthew 1:20 / Luke 2:52 / John 1:1-14, 29 / Colossians 1:15-20 / Hebrews 1:1-13 / Romans 5:8 / 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 12-34 / 2 Corinthians 5:21 / Gal 1:4 / 1 Peter 3:18 / Mark 16:1-8 / Luke 24:1-53 / John 14:3 / Acts 1:11 / Rev 1:7)

The Holy Spirit is active: He is transforming us into Christlikeness and empowering us in our work to expand the Kingdom of God. Believers must be open to God’s leading through His Spirit. (John 16:5-15 / Acts 1:7,8 / Romans 8:26,27 / 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19 / 2 Timothy 1:14)

The Bible is the Word of God: The Bible is inspired by God, and is His unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and Christian living. The central purpose of Scripture is to call all people into fellowship with God. (Psalm 19:7-11 / 2 Timothy 3:16 / 2 Peter 1:20,21 / Mark 12:36 / John 14:26 / Acts 1:16 / 1 Corinthians 2:12,13)

All people need God: All people are sinful and lost without a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Salvation is the result of one believing in Jesus, repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, being baptized for forgiveness of sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit, and living by faith in the grace of God. (Acts 2:38; 4:12 / Romans 3:23 / Matthew 26:28 / Romans 5:1,2,9 / Ephesians 2:8,9 / 1 Peter 1:18,19 / Luke 24:45-47 / Acts 3:19; 17:30 / 2 Peter 3:9 / Romans 10:9 / Philippians 2:11 / Galatians 3:27)

The Church is God’s family worldwide: The Church is comprised of all those who have acknowledged Jesus Christ as Savior and surrendered to Him as Lord. Full devotion to Christ and His cause and a yearning for continuous growth in Him are normal for every believer. (Ephesians 2:11-3:13)

The Kingdom of God is expanding: We have been given the ministry and message of reconciliation. The church is called to continue the work of Jesus, as His ambassadors, to bring the Kingdom of God to this place. We are to develop leaders who can be sent out into our region, our nation, and the world to plant or replant churches. (Isaiah 9:7 / 2 Corinthians 5:20 / Ephesians 4:11-13)

Our Core Values

We value the Word of God and Christian education: We read it, meditate on it, teach it, and apply it to our lives by embracing Biblical values as a lifestyle. If the church is not learning the Word and actually applying it, we all are failing. This not only comes from the pulpit and the classrooms, but it comes from one-on-one discipleship between believers. (Proverbs 4:4 / 1 Timothy 3:16)

We value unity within the Church: God has always existed in perfect unity. The New Testament church had all things in common and shared as any had need. Christ prayed for His Church to be unified. We will strive to live in unity with all believers, both in our congregation and with congregations all around this region and the world because there is only one church, the church of Jesus Christ. (John 17:20-23 / Ephesians 2:13-22

We value prayer: We believe the fuel of our ministry is prayer. God responds to and moves in the prayers of his people. Spiritual warfare is a very real part of our lives. Prayer is a powerful and vital resource in advancing God’s Kingdom. A thriving ministry is a praying ministry. If we are not Christ centered, if we do not remember our first love (Rev. 2:4-5), our ministry is meaningless. We should always be seeking the Father and obedience to Him as a praying people. (2 Chronicles 7:14 / Matthew 6:9-13 / Philippians 4:6 / John 14:13)

We value all people: We believe all people matter to God. We believe that we are especially called to care for the hurting, the broken, the poor, and the marginalized. We exist in this community by God’s design and purpose. We will strive to shine like a light to all, whatever their relationship with God may be. (James 1:27 / Micah 6:8 / Matthew 25:34-40)

We value generosity: We embrace sacrificial living and generous giving as a way of life. We leverage our time, talents, influence, and financial resources for Christ’s Kingdom. (Acts 2:44-47)

We value local leadership: We are an autonomous body. Christ is our head, and the sole place that we look for leadership and direction. Our elders are overseers of our body, and lead the body in the direction they feel Christ is leading His Church. (Acts 20:38 / Philippians 1:1 / 1 Timothy 3:1-7 / Titus 1:5-9)
